Who WE Are

Alliance for Sustainable Environment (AfSEN)

Background.

Alliance for Sustainable Environment is a coalition of Foreign Students in the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Students who believe in championing for environmental protection to curb the effects of climate change in line with United Nations SDG 13 to confront the causes and effects of climate change specifically in Serbia and elsewhere where our contribution would be needed. In recent time, the effects of climate change have increased tremendously, the impact on human livelihood and wellbeing including the availability of basic resources such as fresh water, food security, and clean air can no longer be ignored. Over the years, the Balkan region and particularly Serbia has had their fair share of global mean temperature increase and fluctuation in the precipitation which has caused frequent floods, harsh winters and related extreme events and in turn resulted to adverse effects on people, the environment and the economy of the countryparticularly the agricultural sector. We believe that if we do not do something about our environment now, we will lose it.

Vision Statement:

To become a global organization that promotes and advocates for climate action of the UN SDG 13 and its related goals in our host countries and its environs.

We project that this campaign will have a huge impact on over 500,000 thousand youth living in Serbia and other countries of operation. This will periodically change the ways of life towards protecting the environment, day to day climate change mitigation activities and subsequently to achieve carbon neutrality.
